The Long and Winding Road
We have been blogging on our new website about important legal issues of the day. This one is different. It’s about who we are and why we are here.
Our website touts the firm’s deeply rooted ties to the great City of Newark:
“As a law firm that began in Newark and has remained in Newark at all times, Lite DePalma Greenberg, LLC is a proud and dedicated citizen of Newark and the surrounding area.”
We have honored that commitment ever since the firm first opened its doors in 1978, as what was then known as Goldstein and Lamb. (There were no such things as LLC’s back then). From these beginnings at the Military Park Building, to a five year home at 744 Broad Street, when we were known as Goldstein Till Lite & Reiken, the firm settled in over the next twenty years, from 1995 to 2015, at Two Gateway Center. For much of that time, we were called Lite DePalma Greenberg & Rivas, until our then partner, Alberto Rivas, became a Superior Court Judge. Ever since, we’ve been Lite DePalma Greenberg, LLC. Despite location and name changes, our core remained resolute; to provide the finest legal service, whether it be to our pro bono or our global corporate clients.
Never wavering from our desire to stay “home,” we recently opened our new offices at 570 Broad Street. Though much remains the same, our new offices speak to a stream-lined, more modern firm. Gone are the large partners’ offices. We insisted that all attorney offices be the same size. Gone, too, are the corner offices. Our corner space is an attorney collaborative area. Our lawyers are a team, and our offices exude this concept. We collaborate not based on rank, but on a team approach to representation. Prestige is earned based on how we represent our clients, not where we sit. Our office’s walls are glass rather than wood. This look reflects transparency in what we do (in addition to giving off a modern, clean vibe).
People often ask: why stay in Newark, the suburbs beckon. This question was posed most frequently as we were searching for a new location. The answer has always been simple. Newark is the legal center of New Jersey, one of the country’s largest transportation hubs, and the State’s center of higher learning. Most importantly, though, we stay because of its people. From its diverse neighborhoods and cultural centers to the people who serve the community, this to us is most certainly the best place to be.
Although our look has changed, we continue to dedicate ourselves to the City of Newark. Whether the commitment is by serving our City’s excellent law schools to ensure that future graduates enter the legal marketplace well-equipped to handle all of its rigors and challenges, or by our dedication to the Arts, or to our representation of both the City itself and often of its fine citizens, we continue our journey to do our small part to make Newark the place to be.
