Jason E. Macias concentrates his practice on general commercial litigation, focusing on class action consumer fraud and securities litigation. Mr. Macias served as liaison counsel to over three hundred plaintiffs in the mass tort multidistrict litigation In re Human Tissue Products Liability Litigation Civil Action No. 06-135(WJM) (District of New Jersey).
Mr. Macias was named to the "Rising Stars" list by New Jersey Monthly magazine in 2010 and 2009 in the practice area of class action litigation. He also served as a panelist in 2008 for the American Bar Association, Product Liability and Mass Tort Committees Conference on Medical Device Litigation and was a speaker in 2007 for the Harris Martin Hot Topics in Pharmaceutical Litigation Conference.
In addition to his class action work, Mr. Macias has significant litigation experience before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, defending municipalities in First Amendment, discrimination, and federal civil rights suits. Mr. Macias has served as trial counsel for a municipal client and tried a case to a successful verdict for a private client in a Superior Court case.
Recently, Mr. Macias successfully persuaded the Court to issue an Ex Parte Order to Show Cause for the benefit of a private client whose partner was misappropriating and converting corporate funds. With the assistance of the United States Marshal Service, Mr. Macias seized electronic and hard copy evidence from defendants office. Mr. Macias efforts led to the recent transfer of defendants equity in the private clients corporation.
Mr. Macias is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, The Association of the Federal Bar of the State of New Jersey, Rutgers School of Law Newark Alumni Association, and the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey.
