Catherine Derenze drafts and edits pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery materials, and arbitration and mediation statements. She is adept at performing legal research and has experience writing memoranda in a variety of issues, including the taxability of confidentiality agreements, Monell claims, admiralty torts law, and education law and class action lawsuits.
Before joining the firm, Catherine completed a clerkship under the Honorable Heidi Willis Currier, J.A.D., of the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court. Prior to that, she served as an extern to the Honorable Patty Shwartz, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
FOR THE PROFESSION
While in law school, Catherine served as notes editor of the Seton Hall Legislative Journal, president of the Irish American Law Society and member of the Women’s Law Forum and the Rodino Society. As an undergraduate, she was captain of the Mock Trial Team, a member of the St. Thomas More Pre-Law Society and program director of the Student Programs for Urban Development.
FOR THE COMMUNITY
While earning her bachelor’s degree, Catherine served as a program director of the Student Programs for Urban Development. She also volunteered as a teacher's helper at an elementary school and supervised 30 other volunteers at the school.
