Collin Schaffhauser clerked at the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court under the Honorable Maritza Berdote Byrne, J.A.D.
Outside of the firm, Collin coaches for the Rutgers Law School – Newark National Appellate Advocacy Team and helped coach the winners of the 2024 Touro Law – Law & Religion Appellate Advocacy competition. The final round featured argument before the Honorable Joseph Bianco (2d Cir.), the Honorable James Wicks (E.D.N.Y.), and the Honorable Jeffrey Cohen (N.Y.A.D.), concerning the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act and alleged violations of the Constitution’s Free Exercise and Establishment Clauses.
While earning his law degree, Collin won first place in the 2022 Nathan Baker Mock Trial competition and, at the 2023 Touro Law – Law & Religion Appellate competition, second-best brief and fourth-best oralist. He is also the recipient of the 2022 Hebert Greenstone Award. Collin also worked at a civil litigation firm that handles contract, employment, and personal injury cases where he conducted legal research and drafted legal documents for state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. Prior to starting law school, he was a paralegal.
